2.3 Undocumented Changes, Season 3 delayed, Topic Watch


Update 11/15: We have updated the list of 2.3 Undocumented Changes, thanks to the 90 comments, it greatly helped. Look for the (updated) tag.

- New BOE Epic Throwing Weapon added to the game. (the first one dropped from a lockbox that a rogue pickpocketed off of the Terrormasters in SMV, Source)

Season 3 delayed

Blizzard decided to delay the Season 3 start date to November 27.

Everyone is preparing for the start of the third arena season and we’re excited to get new items, rewards, and fresh competition going for everyone participating in the arenas.

As we approach the previously announced start date we’ve had growing concerns of what the new season requires of us to actually launch, and its proximity to the Thanksgiving holiday. Everyone wants the launch go as smoothly as possible, and in order to have resources available to tend to any issues as soon as they may spring up, we’ve decided to delay the Season 3 start date to November 27. One week after the previously announced date.

This allows us to have the quickest response time to any issues should they occur, and allows everyone to enjoy the holiday and the days leading up to it. While making everyone wait another week obviously isn’t the optimal outcome, in the end we decided it would be much worse to start Season 3 so close to the holiday and potentially make players wait longer until a problem can be resolved. Ultimately it allows us to provide the best possible service for everyone as we launch the new season.

Patch 2.3: Undocumented Changes

Let us know if something is missing.


General

(updated) • Boats and zeppelins which carry players now have NPC crews, including vendors.
• (Racial abilities) Weapon Expertise instead of crit for Humans/Orcs
• Champion of the Naaru doesn't stack with PvP titles
• The video options menu has been redone.

PvP

• Mines giving reinforcements in AV
(updated) • Arena ratings will now be determined by the player's record, instead of the team's.

Professions

Mining

• Primal Fire/Earth (and motes of the same) can be put in Mining Bags.

Enchanting

(updated) • Cooldown for Nexus Transformation removed
• Primal Water/Mana/Life/Nether (and motes of the same) can be put in enchanting bags.

Engineering

• All primals/motes (including nethers, yes) can go into Engineering toolboxes.

JewelCrafting

• Mercurial Stone can now be put into Gem Bags.

Cooking

• Recipes that once enabled a person to get to 300 before going grey now do not.

Mounts

• There has been a change to the purple glow effect on Netherdrakes. It now trails behind the mount.

World Environment

• Boats and Zeppelins that carry players are now populated with NPC crews, some of which are vendors.
• The boat between Teldrassil and Darkshore, and the one between the Forgotten Coast and Feathermoon Stronghold now use the night elf ship model, rather than the human ship model.

Sound

• Night elf and Dwarven inns have new music added.
• Karazhan has 14 new soundtracks for different parts of the dungeon.
• The Temple Of The Moon in Darnassuss has had it's music changed.
• The "Sound at Character" option has been removed from sound settings. It is on by default now.

Items

• The Twin Blades of Azzinoth now have a hidden cooldown of 45 seconds.
• Dartol's Rod of Transformation can no longer be cast when moving.
• MSD Buff is now lasting 5 seconds as opposed to 10 seconds.
• MSD now affects Evocation.

Instances

Black Temple: Mother Shahraz

(updated) • The teleport deals additional shadowdmg. you'll get 2500 shadowdmg every tick. (2.2 was 750 -> 1500 -> and so on)


Black Temple: Shade of Akama

• Shade of Akama's adds do not cast the channeling spell to hold him in place, now, he just goes straight to Akama as soon as you engage him, and you can kill him in 20-30 secs (shortest boss encounter ever).

Hellfire Citadel : Heroic Ramparts

• The Vazruden/Nazan chest in Heroic Hellfire Ramparts is bugged.
If all the item rolls are decided and the chest becomes "empty", the chest despawns. People who didn't opened it before all the rolls got decided won't be able to loot their Badges of Justice.

Tempest Keep: Void Reaver

• Void Reaver now "lobs" his orbs instead of shooting them in a straight line. Makes them a tad harder to see.

Tempest Keep : Heroic Mechanar

• Same Problem as in HFC: HRamparts.

Classes

Hunters

(updated) • You can no longer use FD+drink/eat (or feed pet) during raid encounters.
• Dead zone has been removed. Hunters range is now 5-35 (41 with talents) yards.
• It seems that it is no longer possible for a Hunter to have Freezing trap applied to 2 or more targets at the same time.

Paladins

• Fanaticism doesn't reduce threat while Righteous Fury is active

Priests

• On-damaged effects, such as Prayer of Mending, will no longer proc on periodic damage that is absorbed.
• Shadow Priests can use costume effects while still in shadow form. Eg. Savory Deviate Delights

Mages

• Ice Block will no longer freeze players mid air.

Shamans

• T6 Resto Shaman gear currently has no token cost. (It will be fixed and removed very soon)
• The coefficient change on Chain Lightning/Lightning Bolt (as not to nerf Ele Shaman DPS).

Warlock

(updated) • Soulstone spell effects now appear on the target of the soulstone, rather than the lock.

Quests

(updated) • The minimum hp required to wrangle aether rays has increased for the Skyguard daily. 40% is now the new HP required for aether rays.

Female undead model now holds one handed / offhanded weapons properly when equipped in their offhand slot. However, the main hand slot is not fixed and weapons held there will still look tilted downwards.

Dont know if its already added in the release patch notes, but if u inspect another player, u can now see their talent spec as well. there is an additional tab next to the character and pvp tabs.

Stealth hunter nerfs in 2.3:

* Multi-Trapping nerfed. 2nd trap, breaks first. (4x BL, Resourcefullness and Readiness further reduced in viability due change)
* Trap Activation range now 1y. (direct contact, down from 2yards, unconfrmed)
* FD+Drink = no go @ raid bosses
* FD+Feed Pet = no go @ raid bosses
* FD+GearSwap = no go @ raid bosses (trinket switching gone, according to GM reason for all other FD problems)
* FD doesn't work in PVP, enemy doesn't lose target
* FD doesn't reset boss aggro
* Pet dps scaling nerfed (~15% pet dps loss)
* Ranks 1-5 arcane, no rap scaling.
* Pet's can't attack targets with back to the wall.
* Pet's aggro half an instance when trying to get to target that has back to the wall.
* Pet's can't hit players in arena if they have their back to the pillar.
* Stings 10% scaling, missing...
* MS Aimed debuff on diminishing returns (unconfirmed, players report early drops of debuff)
* Expose Weaknes, missing target (still missing... bug from BWL times..)
* Pets randomly despawning on random events (all classes)

In 2.3 you get Ravenholdt rep for killing syndicates in Northfold Manor and Stromguard in Arathi Highlands. +5 Racenholdt -25 Syndicate every kill. I didn't get a chance to check hillsbrad

To what I've experieced last nite, druid CANT decurse in tree from.

Tooltip is very clear about a.k.a. not mentionning the decurse possibility and every time I was decursing, I was going out of tree form, like its suppose to be with this new patch.

saw that somewhere in the patchnotes - it was just not written very well
