Zul'Aman Preview
Zul'Aman Preview
Tomorrow is the first day of October, and according to
Tigole we might get Zul'Aman on PTR the first week of October, so its time to make a recap of what we know on Zul'Aman.
Zul'Aman is a 10 man raid dungeon located in the Ghostlands, it will require no attunement. The loot will be superior to Karazhan, also bosses will drop heroic badges which can be used to buy the new heroic rewards in 2.3.
Loot:
2 new Zul'Aman weapons have been revelaed at BlizzCon 07, so we pretty much know several things about ZA loot (item level, weapons dps..).
Jin'rohk, The Great Apocalypse: 2h sword, 128.4 dps, 3.70 speed, 49 stamina, 45 haste rating and 120 atp.
Dagger of Bad Mojo: 1h dagger, 98.6 dps, 1.80 speed, 21 agility, 40 atp and ignores ~154 armor.
Bosses:
You will be facing 6 bosses, 4 avatars of the forest troll gods (bear, dragonhawk, lynx and eagle), then the witch doctor (Hexxlord Jin'Zakk) that called out the gods and
Zul'jin.
-
Nalorakk (Bear avatar)

He is visible right from the entranceway. As soon as you approach him he'll start sending out waves of troops to keep you busy. Once you eventually engage him, you'll have to fend off a troop of bear-riding Trolls and deal with the bear form he shapeshifts into. According to Blizzard, Nalorakk will on rare occasions drop a
bear mount for your own use.
-
Akilzon (Eagle avatar)
-
Halazzi (Lynx avatar)
-
Jan'Alai (Dragonhawk avatar)

He has a fire breath attack as well as multiple fire bombs. The bombs stick in the ground after he spews them out, and they explode after a short amount of time, which should keep your party on its toes. He's also surrounded by grouping of eggs, which a hatcher Troll will run around and break open to spawn dragonhawk mobs. You can kill the hatcher if you like, but if you do the boss will eventually break all the eggs simultaneously when he's low on health, resulting in a mob inundation.
- Hexxlord Jin'Zakk (Witch Doctor)
-
Zul'jin (Warlord of the Amani forest trolls)
This battle seems like it'd be pretty tough, as he calls on the spirits of the fallen avatars from earlier in the dungeon to alter his powers, making the fight more dynamic.
What else do we know?
- Zul'Aman is a winged instance similar to Naxxramas, where you can choose the killing order.
- The last two bosses, the Witch Doctor and Zul'Jin, have to be done at once.
- Zul'aman is a non-faction dungeon, in fact its a timed dungeon, the faster a group can kill each boss and rescue his hostages, the better the loot is.
- It should not take more than 45 min for each boss (clearing area + boss).
From
Tigole (
Source):
--Zul'Aman will be a 10-person raid zone
--Zul'Aman will be on a quicker reset than 7 days (some might call this "casual")
--Zul'Aman will be MORE difficult than Karazhan and drop better loot (some might call this hardcore)
--Zul'Aman will feature 6 bosses and it's our goal that you can kill them all in one night -- perhaps 2-3 hour clear times (some might call this casual)
--Zul'Aman will not have a key requirement. Nor will it have an attunement quest\ (some might call this casual)
--Zul'Aman will have a VERY challenging timed quest for those who choose to participate in it. This *will be* hardcore and will be very rewarding. Players do not have to engage in the timed run (very similar to the Baron run in Stratholme)
--We're tuning the first boss in Zul'Aman to require less raid coordination than some other raid bosses. He will still hit very hard so you'll need to be geared properly but it won't take 15 minutes to explain the fight. It will be a simple yet challenging fight. The other boss fights get more complex and challenging from there. If players want a basis of comparison, imagine the tuning of ZA started around Nightbane/Prince difficulty and ramped up from there.
